Antonio Serrano Jr. is a Hong Kong-born Filipino drummer/percussionist based in Hong Kong.
Throughout his career, Antonio has become an established session musician. He plays an eclectic mix of Pop, Rock, Funk, R&B, Jazz, Big Band, Top 40s, etc. Antonio is well-known for his professional approach, reliable nature and good musical sense due to his arranging and producing background.
Antonio has performed in prestigious venues in countries such as Hong Kong, US, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau. He has toured with top Hong Kong artists such as Kelly Chen, Hacken Lee, Hins Cheung, Miriam Yeung, Teresa Carpio and more.
Currently, he is the Musical Director for Teresa Carpio as well as his church The His Sanctuary Hong Kong. Bulk of his work is going towards performing at wedding and corporate events.
Antonio has been teaching and sharing his knowledge and experience to his students since 2008.
Early Life:
Born to a lineage of Filipino musicians. Antonio grew up in a musical environment surrounded by veteran musicians. As a young boy, he would often stay up late listening to fascinating stories of their musical journey.
During his teens, he accepted Jesus Christ as his saviour and started to serve at his local church where he developed his musical sense and taste. He was mentored by his Pastor, Rev. Edilberto "Bong" Hermoza who was an award winning gospel singer/song writer in the Philippines. The church was his second home. He played worship songs for 3-6 services a week with different musical instruments. He was also often asked to arrange music for new song compositions.
Antonio got his first break at age 16 as a keyboardist in a band playing at a local bar 6 nights a week. He later moved to playing guitar for 7 more years but later gave in to his natural talent for drums. He then went on to play more bar and hotel gigs, started teaching and finally became a freelancer, performing at wedding and corporate functions. He has since then performed for artists, recorded albums and played at big concerts.
